Song of The Day - 8Eight

I've decided to incorporate more music on the blog, so I'll try to post songs more often.
This is my favourite song at the moment, what is yours?

I constantly seek new songs, so please include your favourite in the comments :)

PS: I don't limit myself to Chinese/Mandarin ones, English, French, Korean etc. are also very welcome.

Today's song is by a band called 8Eight.
I recently heard it while watching a Korean drama called "IRIS". (More on the drama later).
The title is: "Without A Heart"

I love the piano in the beginning and the singers' voices combined. :)

Listen to it here:

Remember to support the artist if you like the song :)

This song was really awesome...and then that guy started rapping, hahah--I don't like rapping. :P

Currently, this is one of my favorite songs right now--http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHBZD_cSpSQ Actually, I think I like the MV more than the song, but whatever.

What kind of music do you like? Upbeat? Calm? Harder rock? Slower stuff? Sad songs? Bubblegum pop?

Mack91 said...

LOL ! :) I actually thought the same in the beginning, I'm not that big a fan of rap, but I got used to it.

The song you linked to is very typical Korean in my opinion =) Not bad, but a little boring for me.. It might be because I'm very attentive towards lyrics, and I don't understand Korean, so I'm not able to "feel" the song. I like the 8Eight song because of the melody ;)

I do like rock, mostly soft rock, sad songs too (but I need to understand the lyrics, otherwise they can easily become too boring..) I'm into some types of "bubblegum pop" (love that expression) too :) I think bands like Snow Patrol, Lifehouse, The Fray and Jay Chou, Raymond Lam, Enrique Iglesias describe my music taste quite well. (I do have some Backstreet Boys songs too XD).

What about you? What are you in to?

Hope you found something you like! ^_^

I'm okay with lots genres, cause there's almost always good songs in each--Pop, classical, folk, soft rock, easy listening, R&B, soundtracks, country; the only ones I just really don't like are hard rock/screamo and jazz/blues. >_<

I like Wang Guang Liang, OneRepublic, Della Ding, Wang Leehom, Super Junior, Zhang Yun Jing, Owl City, DBSK, JJ Lin, Carrie Underwood, and lots more, hahah. ^_^

Thanks for sharing your playlist Cerulean! It's very late at the moment, so haven't had time to listen to them all.. - But I'm sure there's a new favourite hidden in there somewhere ;)

I forgot to mention I quite like R&B as well.
OneRepublic is fantastic! I love their "Dreaming Out Loud" album. - Haven't explored "Waking Up" yet.
Owl City and Della Ding are also among my favourites. - Don't know who Wang Guang Liang is though..

I posted a new song, it's by Huang Xiao Ming. (Normally I find his songs on the -very- slow and (boring) side. But this one I really like). :)

Btw, do you consider Evanescence "rock/screamo"?

I love the expression "screamo", it's so expressive! ;D

..and I agree with you, I'm not into jazz/blues either.

I do find myself listening to Country too.

I like both OneRepublic's "Dreaming Out Loud" and "Waking Up"; nice style and good melodies. ^_^ "All The Right Moves" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrOeGCJdZe4) and "Secrets" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHm9MG9xw1o) are two of my favorite from the latter. ^_^

This is Wang Guang Liang's "Tong Hua": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsa1GhsGUHA ^_^ This song's kinda slow, but it's one of the most popular Chinese songs *ever*, and I like his voice (a song of his I like more is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyTAoMN6pBs)

I didn't really like Jiu Suan Mei You Ming Tian; I didn't like the mlody, and I have no idea why, but I don't like guys and girls singing together (outside of choirs). o_O x)

Well, Evanescence isn't quite screamo; it's more hard rock, which I don't like--sounds like noise to me, that's all.

I've finally had a chance to listen to all the songs you linked to.
Overall - a pretty interesting mix, although my favourite is probably A-Lin's "Gei Wo Yi Ge Li You Wang Ji". Love the lyrics and her voice is very nice too. :)

The song by Fefe Dobsen was great too. It sort of reminded me of Avril Lavigne. (Some of her songs are okay too).

Regarding OneRepublic - I haven't actually heard the song "Secrets" before. - But I totally love it! Especially the cello part in the beginning. It's the kind of music where I just close my eyes and listen to all the instruments playing. :D

Hmm... Wang Guang Liang actually looks familiar, maybe I have heard/seen him before afterall. That "Fairy Tale" song sounds familiar as well, perhaps someone has recommended the MV before..? I have to say his voice is quite unique. Not sure if I totally like it, but it's definitely special. Looks like he's good at playing the piano too.

What..?! You don't like fe/male duets? Are you crazy? :) I love duets.

Haha, I guess I'm into hard rock as well. I had an Evanescence phase when I was around 14 years old, I loved it. It's not constantly on my playlist, but I do occasionally listen to the songs.

A friend recently introduced me to John Mayer, I'm still exploring his music. So far, one very good song and some not-so-much-my-taste songs.. Have you heard of him?

Cerulean said...

That's one of my favorites too; glad you liked a few of the songs I showed you. ^_^

Hahah yeah, I love songs that have string orchestras in them, too. :D

"Fairy Tale" is an older song; Wang Guang Liang's voice *is* kinda different but I like it. ^_^

I don't know why, it's just that when I listen to a song I want to hear either a girl's voice or a guy's, but not both--I have no idea why. o_O And hey, you like the Backstreet Boys--I'm no crazier than you are. XD

I've never really liked harder rock, even when younger--in general, I prefer calmer songs with nice melodies (like this--http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oo971gATSl8 I love this song so much right now :D). ^_^

I've heard of John Mayer; he's in the states, right? Is that where you're from? I don't think I've really heard any of his music--what's the one song that you liked?

Oh hey, so what are *your* favorite songs? ^_^

Mack91 said...

Hahaha :) Didn't everyone like Backstreet Boys at one point in their life? I don't actually listen to it very often, but it's in my music library ;)

Yep, I think John Mayer is American - however I am not :) I'm actually from Northern Europe, but with Chinese parents. You? That one song I liked so far is called "In Your Atmosphere". There's only an acoustic version available, but the guitar part is amazing! :) I especially love the last part, where you think the song is over, but it isn't. ^_^

Hmm, favourite songs.. Let me think.
Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars (love the lyrics and melody).

Lifehouse - Everything (love the "upbeat" towards the end of the song)

Mickey He - Goodbye (reminds me of the drama, "One Thousand Teardrops").

Jacky Cheung - Xin Ru Dao Ger (reminds me of another drama, "The Girl In Blue", which I really like) :)

Baek Ji Young - Like Being Hit By A Gun
Baek Ji Young - Don't Forget

A-Lin - Get Wo Yi Ge Li You Wang Ji ;)

Melodies:
Yann Tiersen - Comptine d'un Autre Ete - It's an instrumental song i.e. no actual singing. But I love it still. I'm a sucker for piano plays.

Yiruma - River Flows in You

Clint Mansell - Together We Will Live Forever

These are just the ones I remember, I'm sure there are plenty more.
Sorry for not providing YT links, writing from a phone :)

Hahah, well, I never liked the Backstreet Boys. x)

Hmm, I think we have different tastes in music....I think your songs are a little too slow for me, hahah. I like calm songs, but more faster paced--when the tempo starts to drag it kinda bugs me.

Hahah! It's Peter Ho's "Wo Ji Duh Wo Ai Guo"! XD Did Baek Ji Yung copy it from Peter Ho or the other way around? ^_^

I noticed you listed a couple of Christian songs. ^_^ Here are some of my favorites:

You didn't like Backstreet Boys?! - What's wrong with you? :D What about Spice Girls or Britney Spears? Didn't everyone love them at some point?

I forgot to mention the "Yi Ban" song by Ding is actually quite nice too! :)
Not my all-time favourite, but it's nice.

Maybe, although you posted some songs which I really like. Perhaps I should mention a few more, to see if I can "tempt" you with anything.

Haha! It's actually Peter who "copied" Baek Ji Young's song. ^_^

Christian songs? - Which ones? I had no idea, I just listen to them. I don't think any of them are particularly Christian?

OMG, I LOVE the song by Ludovico Einaudi! It's absolutely beautiful! :D I really wish I could play the piano like that. - Actually, I just wish I could play the piano, period. ;) But it's definitely the type of instrumental songs that I love. Thanks so much for introducing it.

The "Summer" play is nice too, although it leaves a very different feeling than "Nuvole Bianche".

Of more upbeat songs, I like:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYZG-3jmkQY&feature=related (Love the beginning!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ChU_YVWne0&feature=related (Really like the guitar throughout the entire song).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-Xnh2MZ5Hs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGOuPydSXqw&feature=related

I wonder if you also dislike these Evanescence songs? :) (Two of my favourites, slow paced, but still rock.)

Ack, I've been so busy and I just realized I never replied! So sorry about that....

Hahah, nope. :) While you were listening to the Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, and Britney Spears, I was listening to classical music, hahah. That was my genre of preference for a long time before I discovered all the awesome music I've showed you. ^_^

Well, "Everything" by Lifehouse is a Christian song--it's actually used in a very popular Christian skit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyheJ480LYA

Hahah yeah, I kinda like the Ludovico Einaudi song, although I actually think it has a lot of bland parts...Ont he other hand, I really love the "Summer" song; it's melodic, upbeat, and beautiful sounding. It's hard finding really nice piano songs like that, unfortunately. Do you play any instruments yourself?

I liked almost all the songs you posted. ^_^ The only issue I had with them was the lyrics...even though the songs are very nice-sounding and catchy, the lyrics were just kinda....blah. Like the Evanescence songs; they're gorgeous, but so depressing/suicidal sounding--I don't really like it. That's probably why I listen to a lot of music I don't understand, because I can focus on how nice it sounds and don't have to gag over cheesy lines, hahah.

The Taiyou no Uta song is great! :D That's exactly the style I love. ^_^ Definitely going on my playlist...

Hmm, let's see what I've got--I'm in a quieter mood right now....

Hahah, that ought to keep you busy for a while. :) I love all these melodic, calm songs that are still mostly fast-paced; unfortunately, they're hard to find. >_<

I'm really sorry Cerulean!
I usually reply to all comments when I approve them, but I must've gotten side-tracked when I was listening to the music..

Nope, don't play any instruments myself. Although I've always wanted to play the piano. Do you?

LOL, suicidal.. I guess you're right. Evanescence accompanied me through my depressive first teenage years. - Wasn't suicidal or anything, but you know, teenagers are so emo...

I quite liked the songs by JJ Lin, but other than that, they were perhaps too quiet? I guess I'm in a more upbeat mood :)

I'll post some songs tomorrow in a new post, that way we don't need to refer to this one that's 4 months old :)
