Sunny Happiness - BTS 24.04.11

I'm such a giggling little fangirl of Sunny Happiness *blushes* :)
Can you blame me with that much eye-candy in one show?

Enjoy the BTS while I look for the actual episode.

Thanks to gar8513

LOL, the filming of the basketball scene was kinda awkward... :)
But I love that scene.. There was so much bonding.

Janine was mocking Yi Feng for being young and Yi Feng mocking Janine for being old.. xD

Is it that good? ^_^ I remember being interested in it a while back, but never got around to watching it--Kdramas took my attention instead, hahah. What's the plotline? Are the actors good? Do the guys have nice hair? :D

Oh yes :) One of the better ones in the past many months!

Haha, you've gotta be the queen of K-dramas ;)

The plotline is actually a wee-bit lame when you first read it, but I think the credible acting made up for it.

It's about a guy and a woman (surprise, surprise :) The guy is a rich and seemingly cold man who cares little for other people but himself. The girl is poor and kind, she lives this Cinderella life with stepmother and sisters, although not the miserable kind.

She lived in an orphanage for a couple of years after her mother died and her father couldn't take care of her. So the orphanage became her second home. The guy's company is planning on tearing down the orphanage in order to build something new. That is until the guy unexpectedly finds out he has an 8 year old son, he proposes a trade between them. If she agrees to marry him and be his wife for 1 year, in order to appear like a complete family (to help the custody battle), he will in return leave the orphanage alone. She agrees and they first pretend to be married, but then fall in love.

On the sideline is the male lead's younger brother (my personal favourite character ^_^) who is tired of staying in his brother's shadow and thus decides to prove himself. This involves lying, toying with people's feelings etc. But deep down he's a good guy. He also falls in love with the female lead, and it sort of becomes a love triangle.

It sounds a bit cheesy and full of clichés which I can't deny, but the characters are so well-written and played that I don't mind :) The family relationships do play a pretty big role as well. We see how most of the characters are fully supported by siblings and parents. Which is a nice change.

Like I mentioned, I adore the younger brother because he is such a flawed character, but we see his transformation. He isn't childish, he resolves most of his problems as an adult, and realise his mistakes.

Plus, he's super gorgeous in my opinion ^_^ So that definitely doesn't hurt! The actor is actually only 23 years old, and I'm impressed by how well he did. Better than the average Taiwanese actor.

Janine Chang who plays the female lead is quite good as well, her crying scenes are very convincing.

Mike He was a bit wooden sometimes, but overall pretty good too.

Regarding hair... Hmm.. Mike has long-ish hair (was it you, who liked that? ;) and Li Yi Feng (the brother, has normal guy-length hair which suits him well ^_^

Sorry, that almost turned out to be a review. I'd say the first 2 episodes weren't all that impressive, but if you watch a little further it's one of the best dramas I've seen in a while :) If you do decide to watch it, let me know what you think :)

Hahah, well, you were right--the plotline does sound a wee-bit lame and cliche. x) Good acting is essential for a good drama, but so is a good story. =/ The younger brother sounds cool, though. :D I'm kinda really busy right now, though; don't exactly have 20+ hours to devote to watching videos, as much as I'd like to. :( Maybe sometime when I'm free I'll check it out. ^_^

Haha, you're right. A good story is essential as well. :) While it does sound (and is, sort of), cheesy, I think they have made sure it wasn't completely predictable.. I think their storylines had a proper beginning and were wrapped up well too. :D

I know what you mean, I was gonna start one of the dramas you recommended, but for some reason these two days have flown away. Barely had time to do anything.

Did you like Autumn's Concerto - because if you like that type of dramas, I think Sunny Happiness would be your style too ^_^

Yeah, I've been really busy as well; sorry for the late response. >_<

I liked Autumn's Concerto, but I didn't like that that type of drama--if that makes sense, hahah. I loved the characters, the actors, and the music, but as for the genre of angsty melodramas, well, they're not my favorite. I'm alright with dramas that make you cry a little or have lots of serious scenes, but I don't like it when that's 90% of the series--I prefer light, trendy rom-coms that are creative and fresh. ^_^

But since you like Sunny Happiness, I'll try checking it out once I have some free time (read: when I'm retired, hahah).

Guess we're both busy :)

I just wrote like 7 posts in one day because I haven't had time to even access the blog for a week. In times like these I really wonder if I should just go on hiatus again or shut down permanently.

It's been a hobby for a while, it's fun to discuss dramas, music with other people, but the response is so lame. - I mean, I'm happy to receive and read all comments on the blog, but I feel just a bit stupid babbling without getting any response to 90 % of my posts.

You've said it before, if only I wrote in a way that encouraged more discussion, it might help. I've tried. Either I don't have it in me, or people just don't wanna comment.

Sorry, got sidetracked. I've just been considering this a few times.. >_<

Regarding AC - I get it. You're not into the genre, but sometimes dramas can surprise you :)
I felt the same way about Sunny Happiness, I was a bit iffy about Mike at first. I like him fine, but he's always portraying the same bloody character, so I was just like, I've seen it before.

But then after a few episodes I was convinced. Probably because of Li Yi Feng aka. the little brother. His character was far more interesting and definitely a major plus for the drama ;)
